Sec. 7.5-22. Loud, disturbing and unnecessary noises prohibited. The creation of any unreasonably loud, disturbing and unnecessary noise in Iredell County is prohibited. Noise of such character, intensity, and duration as to be detrimental to the health, safety, or welfare of any individual is prohibited.(Ord. of 12-19-89, § 2; Ord. of 5-6-97)

Prohibited acts.Without limiting in any way the provisions of section 7.5-22 above, the following acts, among others, are declared to be loud, disturbing and unnecessary noises in violation of this article. It is expressly provided, however, that the following enumeration shall not be considered exclusive. Specifically prohibited acts include:
1) Radios, phonographs, etc. The playing of any radio, phonograph, jukebox, piccolo, or other music recordation playing or amplification device, or any musical instrument in such manner or with such volume as to annoy or disturb any person or in such manner as to annoy or disturb the quiet, comfort, or repose of any person.
2) Pets. The keeping of any animal, bird, or other pet which, by causing frequent or long-continued noise, shall disturb the comfort or repose of any reasonable person.(3) Use of vehicle. The use of any automobile, motor-propelled boat, motorcycle, or other vehicle or motor-propelled craft so out of repair, so loaded or operated, or used as to create loud, unnecessary or disturbing noises.
(4) Loud language. The use of any loud, boisterous, raucous or profane language or shouting so as to annoy or disturb the quiet, comfort, or repose of any person in the vicinity.
(5) Loudspeakers or amplifiers on vehicles. The use of any mechanical loudspeaker or amplifier of any type on any automobile, truck, airplane or other vehicle for advertising or for other purposes, except by special permission from the Sheriff of Iredell County.
(6) Business noises near residences. The operation of any garage, filling station, automobile sales or repair business, taxi business, plant, store, factory, or other business of any type between the hours of nine o\'clock p.m. and seven o\'clock a.m. in such manner as to create loud and disturbing noises of such frequency or volume as to annoy or disturb the quiet, comfort, peace, or repose of any person in any dwelling, hotel, boarding house, or other type of residence or church, or place of religious worship.
(7) Noises near schools, hospitals, churches, etc. The creation of any excessive noise on any street adjacent to any school, institution of learning, library, sanitorium, hospital, or court while the same is in session, or adjacent to any church during church services or education, which interferes with work or worship in any such place or institution

At 242 N. Lackey Street in the City limits of Statesville are pitt bulls that bark day & night. I have called the police (numerous times), the animal control (numerous times). I have emailed the mayor, spoke with the Chief of Police & talked to the humane society. It started with 8 dogs. Only 5 dogs are legally allowed so 3 went. a couple kept getting loose & the last time they got picked up they haven't made it back, at least not yet. Problem is theses dogs are neglected & bark constantly. I live in this neighborhood & cannot sleep half the time. I cannot use my front porch or enjoy my yard as it just sets them off again. No one can walk down the street without them starting in. Once they start barking it goes on for hours on end. I am going crazy!

The ordinance doesn't give any specific time line.. It can be anytime of day or night... Problem is,, the police do not care if you get any sleep.. Or are annoyed all day by people thumping their radios.. Or by whatever other noise they can make.. They do not know how to enforce it.. They need to write whoever is making the noise a citation... So the prosecutor can do their job,, and end the problem through fines and other actions.. Problem is the police wont write the citation's.. They tell you to get the communication log from the dispatcher take it to the magistrate.. The problem with that,, is when you go to the magistrate the magistrate tells you there are no records of noise complaints because the person you are complaining about has not been cited.
I feel your pain. I Live in Mooresville town limits. Neighbors dogs bark constantly. No matter who is outside or where, day and night. Keeps me up, keeps my wife up and worse keeps our kids up. This is where it gets fun. I Love in town limits but
......neighbor lives in county limits. Line runs just beyond the back of my property. Town has been helpful yet can't do anything. County gives me the run around. Not one Deputy Sheriff could could give me a staight answer on County Noise Ordinance. We just WANT TO SLEEP!!!!! Yours and my neighbors dogs can bark but we all can't sleep? We just want resolution like you? What do we do?

Ever heard of headphones? Loud as hell but I can't hear a fn peep. These young punks have no respect for us so I have none for them.They aren't being powered our by my music but give me about a couple more times and I will aim my old musical equipment their way and show them how fucking annoying it is late at night.
